What is the O-Shot?
The O-Shot is a minimally invasive, non-surgical procedure designed to enhance sexual function and satisfaction in women.
It involves using platelet-rich plasma (PRP) derived from your own blood to improve blood flow, which in turn stimulates tissue regeneration and improves sensitivity in the vaginal and clitoral areas.

How does the O-Shot work?
The O-Shot for women is a very simple, minimally invasive procedure that takes about 30 minutes.
- We do a simple blood draw, taking a small amount of your blood and processing it in our in-clinic laboratory to extract the PRP. This substance is rich in growth factors that promote tissue repair and rejuvenation.
- Since PRP is derived from your blood, the risk of allergic reactions or side effects is minimal.
- Then, using a proprietary technique, the platelets from the blood are separated and concentrated via a centrifuge. The PRP that contains your growth factors is extracted and placed into a syringe.
- The areas where the PRP growth factors will be injected are numbed with a local anesthetic cream before injection, so you experience little or no discomfort during the procedure.
- Our doctor injects the PRP into an area called the “O-Spot,” a collection of structures that activate the orgasm system. The process of injection triggers the platelets to release seven different growth factors. These activate the stem cells located in the tissue in the areas of the vagina and clitoris to regenerate and rejuvenate and lead to improved functional potential.
What are the benefits of the O-Shot procedure?
Each patient’s personal experience may differ, but many women experience:
- Greater arousal from clitoral stimulation
- Younger, smoother skin on the vulva (lips of the vagina)
- A tighter introitus (vaginal opening)
- Stronger orgasms
- More frequent orgasms
- Increased sexual desire
- Increased ability to experience a vaginal orgasm
- Decreased pain for those with dyspareunia (painful intercourse)
- Increased natural lubrication
- Decreased or resolved urinary incontinence (both urge and stress problems)
Who is a good candidate for the O-Shot?

The O-Shot is primarily suitable for women experiencing various sexual health and urinary concerns.
The non-surgical treatment is suitable for women of all ages, whether or not they have been prescribed hormone replacement therapy. Candidates should be in good health and have realistic expectations about the procedure’s outcomes. A consultation with Tower Urology’s qualified healthcare providers is required to determine individual eligibility for the treatment.
If you experience any of the following, you are a good candidate for the O-Shot:
- Difficulty achieving orgasm or experiencing sexual pleasure
- Decreased sexual sensitivity or low libido
- Vaginal dryness
- Painful intercourse (dyspareunia)
- Clitoral atrophy related to aging
- Minor urinary incontinence
- Stress and urge incontinence symptoms
- Perimenopause
- Lichen sclerosus and lichen planus symptoms
- Chronic pain from episiotomy, vaginal mesh, or surgical scarring
What generally happens after the O-Shot?
First, there is little to no downtime, and most women can resume normal activities immediately. The O-Shot uses the body’s natural healing mechanisms to safely and effectively enhance sensitivity, pleasure, and comfort.
While it usually takes a few weeks to notice the effects of the O-Shot, with maximal benefit appearing around two to three months, we encourage our patients to spend more time in the bedroom as soon as possible.
How are the O-Shot/PRP Injections different from hormone therapies?
Women who suffer from vaginal dryness or difficulty achieving orgasm mostly suffer in silence, and that is simply not right. And many who talk to their doctors are often prescribed hormonal therapies, like vaginal estrogen or topical testosterone.
While hormonal treatments are an excellent approach, the idea of a non-pharmaceutical approach to dealing with vaginal dryness while increasing sexual desire and the ability to orgasm is a very appealing therapy option to many.
O-Shot treatment addresses the physical issues directly. Studies have found PRP effective in regenerating and rejuvenating tissue in many other parts of the body. Now, with the O-Shot, we bring this powerful treatment to an area of medicine where, historically, women have had few options.
Depending on your needs, your Tower Urology doctor can combine the O-Shot with other treatment methods, such as hormonal therapy and the MonaLisa Touch. The O-Shot is just one part of our comprehensive approach to addressing women’s sexual health and general well-being.

The Orgasm Shot (O-Shot) FAQs
Current evidence suggests the O-Shot may benefit select patients with mild to moderate SUI or sexual dysfunction, particularly those seeking non-surgical options. Industry-supported studies report success rates of between 75-94%.
For sexual satisfaction and orgasm enhancement
A 2017 pilot study reported 94% subjective improvement in lubrication, arousal, and orgasm intensity after two PRP sessions. Participants with dyspareunia (painful intercourse) noted reduced discomfort, attributed to increased tissue elasticity and vascularity.
In 2023, a systematic review identified four prospective studies showing significant improvements in Female Sexual Function Index (FSFI) scores post-PRP, with mean FSFI increasing from 18.2 to 26. Vaginal Health Index (VHI) scores also improved, suggesting enhanced mucosal integrity.
For urinary incontinence
In stress urinary incontinence (SUI), a Phase II trial demonstrated an 8g reduction in 1-hour pad weight and improved quality of life when combining PRP with pelvic floor therapy.
A 2021 pilot study reported symptom resolution in 65% of mild to moderate SUI cases six months post-PRP. Patients younger than 50 showed higher response rates (78% vs. 54% in older cohorts), though statistical significance was not reached.
The O-Shot typically lasts between one and two years, with most women opting to maintain results by repeating the treatment approximately every 18 months. Some studies have shown that the O-Shot can last over three years, particularly in women, though this varies by individual.
Yes, the O-Shot can help with tightening of the vaginal area through several mechanisms. The procedure stimulates collagen production and improves vaginal tissue elasticity, which can lead to increased firmness.
The PRP used in the O-Shot strengthens tissues in the pelvic area, promoting natural tissue regeneration that enhances the overall health and elasticity of vaginal walls. This process can improve vaginal tone and tightness over time as new tissue develops.
According to some sources, the O-Shot makes the vaginal canal tighter by stimulating the pelvic floor muscles to contract, which creates more friction during sexual activity. This tightening effect is part of why many women report more intense orgasms and increased pleasurable sexual experiences after receiving the treatment.
