Because my PSA was higher than before my doctor wanted me to do an MRI of my prostate which I did on July 6th. He called me on July 10th to see if I’d done the MRI I told him I’d informed his office that it was done on the 6th and his office told me to wait a week for them to get the results. On the 13th I personally took a copy of the disc of the imaging and gave to his assistant who told me they had got the written report as well. I called today the 14th to see if the doctor could talk to me and give me the results and was told he hadn’t dealt with it yet. I’m still waiting. I really like my doctor but it’s stressful waiting so long to get the results. I’ve had MRIs and CT scans done in the past and the doctors have been very good informing me of the results within two- three days. I don’t know how this will help but right now I’m very frustrated and stressed.

I feel every time I come to Tower Urology, the experience feels impersonal. If I see my doctor for more than 5 minutes, it's a miracle. I just had a procedure to remove a stent and it took 7 days before anyone called me to see how I was feeling and also to let me know how the procedure went. I know the doctor wanted to get the pathology report first but the doctor received it on Wednesday this week and I still didn't hear from him until Friday and that's after I had left two messages.

Dr. Desai is one of the very best doctors I have ever dealt with. He knows very well what he is doing, and his knowledge spreads across multiple approaches to achieve the best overall medical objectives. In my case he started with surgery to remove my prostate. But he recognized that the medical problems extended from the prostate, so he addressed those broader challenges with the use of radiation onto the remaining areas. That completed the job, and we never had to address that problem again.

Dr. Desai was incredible. He diagnosed an issue I had been plagued with for two years. He prescribed two medications and within two weeks I was feeling relief. My urologist at the time just shrugged his shoals told me not to drink so much water, and I don’t drink a lot of water. Dr. Desai had me on the table, performed an ultrasound and diagnosed the problem in ten minutes. Two years vs. ten minutes!! His thoughtful and articulate description of the possible treatments for my cancer should be a lesson out of the Dr.s how-to play book.

I'm disappointed in not receiving my urinalysis results in a timely manner. I had a follow-up appointment with my urologist, and a urinalysis specimen was taken. I had expected the results the next day, as I know that this test has a short turn-around-time. The office staff said she would email the results, but the results I received did not include my urinalysis results. I had to call over several days to get these results. It was frustrating to have to keep calling to get these results.
One way I believe to prevent this would be for the office to be on CS Link, as are all of my other doctors.

We were told we would get test results back within a week… none of that occurred. We feel badly calling to inquire as we don’t want to bother anyone but it is now the end of week two and just received the urinalysis results but no cat scan results…this was after a few phone calls.
We are concerned about how to proceed from here… it does not feel like we are important . A cat scan was ordered as the doc was either looking to rule “ something” in or rule “ it” out… we’d like to know which we are dealing with.

As a Cedars patient with a number of my doctors coordinated int o the central CS link system it is frustrating that Tower separate system is ring fenced and not linked and portable to the main CS records for the patient as well as the doctors. Conditions and health is clearly integrated between specialties and the health of the patient needs to be digitally coherent.
Especially with the onset of prompt generated patient and physician health care this needs to be fixed.

I think Tower's 48 hour cancellation policy is unrealistic and sending a $100 fee is wrong headed. A 'no show' is one thing; a person who calls to let Tower know that they can not come in is another thing entirely.
I gave Tower 24 hour cancellation and am getting $100 charge notifications in the mail. If I get one more I will simply find another doctor!

I was surprised and the following experience was out of character for the office, but unpleasant anyway.
The room for the appointment seemed like it was used as storage, not typical for an exam room. The exam bed was not functioning.There was boxes stacked along perimeter, surplus medical supplies on counters and disorderly random items.
Most concerning, it was filthy. The floors untidy with medical supply wrappers littering and the walls had odd, questionable smudges and brown splattering on one of the walls up high.

He suggested I take a new drug. It required a prior authorization. It was during the holidays, but the insurance staff did not respond to me, my insurance company nor the pharmacy for over a week. This is not acceptable. They could have communicated they were working on it. I finally typed a letter and hand delivered it to their office and the following day it was done.
I have also found some of the front office staff not friendly of welcoming.

Not taking insurance is getting more difficult, especially as I am seeing increasing numbers of doctors. Also, are both of the expensive scans needed every year, when I have not been showing symptoms? The question should be whether the benefit of the test is worth the cost to the patient, and I feel I have been left out of that equation and the tests are simply ordered. I should be informed what the benefit of each test is, and how important the doctor thinks it is, and how much it will cost, BEFORE I agree to it. In a world where cost is no object I would of course have all of them, but since cost IS an object I should be allowed to make an informed choice about what is costly enough that I might do it only every 2 years rather than every year, even if that creates a small risk. Will this comment actually cause a change? Let's see.

I had an in-place catheter for 42 days. I had extreme pain from this for two weeks until I figured out the catheter was misplaced and I fixed it myself. My suffering was not attended to by Tower staff, My doctor was on vacation for three weeks after the catheter was put in.
I feel the billing is heavily over priced. For example the leg bag I was given was charged for $50 when the exact same bag was available on amazon for $8.00. Quick, minor services taking minutes are charged hundreds of dollars. I was never appraised ahead of time of how much I was going to be charged for what was being done. I am a cash paying patient which make the above hard on me.
My doctor was technically 1000% and my condition was handled as promised.

The only issue that I have with Tower Urology is in regard to phone calls. It has proven very difficult not only getting through to a doctor’s scheduler/concierge, but getting a return phone call after leaving a voice message. Several times I have not only not received a return phone call for days, but had to follow up with additional voice messages. This was also true when I was trying to get a prescription refilled and requesting medical records.
