How did a woman with a lifetime of recurrent bladder infections wind up with a urologist whose specialty is male fertility?
It happened like this...Dr. Houman was recommended to my husband when he began having the prostate problems that can devastate older men. Dr. Houman solved his urinary difficulties, and I'm convinced, kept him from the fate of a constant catheter.
Naturally, I jumped at the chance to be his patient, and have been, for the first time in my life, free for several months of any infections.
But the best part of being Dr. Houman's patient is this. When you are in trouble, he will keep in constant touch with you...he does not isolate himself behind a wall of nurses. Naturally, I recommend him highly,

I've been working with Dr. Houman for a few months now after a complication from a surgery. I was referred to Dr. Houman and he assured me that we would get the issue resolved. At 73, I had major spinal surgery at Cedars Sanai in July of this year and the vascular surgeon who was opening me up pulled some scar tissue and tore a hole in my ureter. Never had as Great a Doctor as Dr. Houman! Not only was he Perfect at his Craft, also he's an unpretentious and easy-going Doctor who always made me feel comfortable! Dr. Houman is truly outstanding. Dr. Houman in Beverly Hills, is a step above any other doctor I?ve dealt with in Los Angeles, New York, or DC. After multiple failed attempts of finding an Urologist I could trust in Santa Clarita - closer to home - I began looking elsewhere. Dr. Houman had exceptional reviews online and I decided to switch Urologists and brave the traffic over to Cedars for his care.
Dr. Houman is sincere and intentional with the care of his patients e.g. follow up phone calls, texts, emails etc. He is collaborative in his approach - educating you along the way - and provides clarity with his goals for your health. Dr.Josephson was an Answer to many prayers! I recently had surgery in Bakersfield
with urologist who is past his prime.
I couldn't get help after my TURP surgery.
For 3 months (90 days) I was in great discomfort, unable to urinate without extreme pain. 40 times a day,wanting to cry !
My Bakersfield urologist said there was NOTHING he could do to help me. A friend sent me to Dr. Josephine. I prayed for a miracle and Dr. Josephson kindly obliged.
No further surgery was needed! Dr.Josephson took the "time" to examine me and found the issue immediately and I left his office as happy a child !!

I?m redoing my review because something went wrong when I pasted it and copied my initial review.
I have never in my life thought or said that a doctor saved my life until I met Dr. Kuhlmann. I came to her in a complete medical crisis. I have been suffering from chronic UTIs and vaginal infections that were seemingly resistant to treatment with antibiotics. I have a high pain tolerance but the pain I was experiencing was off the charts
Her office staff and assistants were very friendly. When she came in, she immediately put me at ease, she was friendly and very personable. It was the end of the day and I?m sure she wanted to go home as quick as possible, but she was not leaving that room until she found out and knew exactly what was wrong with me. She ran every test and procedure that she could, sat and listened to my entire history, which was a lot and everything else I had to say. I have never felt so listened and understood so much in my life. As soon as I was done, telling her everything I had been going through and my history, she knew exactly what was wrong with me. She diagnosed me with pelvic floor dysfunction. I have a long hard journey ahead of me, but she put me in the exact direction I needed to be with medication, supplements, and physical therapy.
I truly saw no way out of the nightmare. I was living in with my health and she put me on the path to help me recover and I?m eternally thankful.
I also want to add that trying to find new doctors many of them know who doctor Kuhlmann is and their face always lights up with a smile when I mention her name. That just speaks volumes.

Would have been useful to be alerted that I would need to be wearing a catheter bag; that I would likely find shorts more practical to wear than long pants when in my house; that I should try to wear boxer shorts rather than jockey briefs to avoid crimping the catheter.
It would have been useful to have gotten the follow up appointment with Dr. Bui scheduled in advance to avoid schedule conflicts.
I was deluged with communications from the surgery center, yet clear, basic information (like arrival time) was hard to come by.

If possible, please try to have patients seen within approximately 15 minutes of their scheduled appointment time. During our last visit, we arrived on time but waited nearly an hour before my father received his injection, which took only about five minutes.
Because my father had difficulty walking, we had to park in the closest parking structure, which resulted in more than $16 in parking fees for a very brief appointment. If minimizing wait times is not always possible, perhaps validating parking for the first 30 minutes or hour could help ease the financial burden for patients and families who require close parking due to mobility limitations.

Tower Urology has what I would call a premier urological group. I might say it towers over mediocrity Before my first visit I was nervous. But I am so glad I shopped around. Now I go back in three-month intervals. More than a very nice he had an outstanding education and sound diagnostics and skilled. Yes, I am glad I did the research and chose Dr. Josephson. The true tests is results that have been better than I expected. My PSA and testosterone are almost perfect. Very poor care at the time of this visit. I was sedated for a procedure in the doctors office and was discharged while not fully recovered. There is was nobody there to assist me to the sidewalk except for my wife. Had I fallen or in any way been injured at this time the office would have been fully liable. Sometimes the wait is too long, and the staff is forced to coordinate awkward situations (I think getting patients ready for different doctors? Or it feels that way.)
It can be so crowded that it feels like a clinic instead of a doctor's office. (At one of my appointments, there was a woman waiting next to me and she walked out saying those exact words. We were waiting to see the same doctor and she was the patient ahead of me. I'm sure she never returned.)
I find a way to focus on my appointment and not get distracted by all the activity going on.

I had an initial appointment and the office is well organized and staff were respectful and attentive. Doctor Ng was excellent and took his time to answer my questions. Weeks later I had a following appointment which was the prostrate biopsy. Procedure was on time and it was completed without any problem. Thanks to the Dr Ng and the tech. The only instruction I received verbally from the desk was somebody was going to call me in about one week. There was no instruction of post op biopsy. It’s been 15 days, I haven’t received a call from the office. Overall my experience was excellent.

I feel every time I come to Tower Urology, the experience feels impersonal. If I see my doctor for more than 5 minutes, it's a miracle. I just had a procedure to remove a stent and it took 7 days before anyone called me to see how I was feeling and also to let me know how the procedure went. I know the doctor wanted to get the pathology report first but the doctor received it on Wednesday this week and I still didn't hear from him until Friday and that's after I had left two messages.

I would recommend Dr. Leach without hesitation. He is knowledgeable, caring, and a great guy. Other Tower doctors, Dr Cinman in particular, should not be practicing medicine. He practically bragged about his ignorance ("I don't know ANYTHING about HIFU," he told me) and recommended surgery for a condition that has remained clinically insignificant for 18 years. In a just world, he would not be allowed to see patients.

Dr. Kuhlman in particular is a rare combination of medical expertise and REALLY important social skills.
She is an active listener, ALL questions land with her AND-critical to patients-she's open to FULLY answering everything, thoughtfully.
Dr. Kuhlman's specialty necessarily focuses on the most intimate parts of female anatomy and requires a mindful, respectful approach.
One of issues I've occasionally discovered with physicians over the years is a lack of sensitivity to the fact that—statistically—at least one in four female patients they see have survived physical transgressions/trauma.
So, coming in with physical issues and an invasive exam can be loaded business, even re-traumatizing with a doctor who lacks understanding.
Dr. Kuhlman's sensitivity, people skills and professionalism combine to create a safe AND reassuring experience.
I wouldn't bother taking time to share a truly thoughtful message if my experience with Dr. Kuhlman and Tower Urology fell short.
Quite the contrary, I really can't say enough good things about my experience with this particular health provider. Brava!

Dr. Bui has a unique piece of diagnostic equipment, a very micro-miniature video cam he's nicknamed the "noodle" that's able to easily fit in the urethra, even with my urethral stricture, where standard catheters and such could only go with great difficulty! With this, he easily and successfully diagnosed and then treated my bladder cancer while it was still Stage 1. I'm thankful to still be in remission and cancer-free, 5 years later!
