It happened like this...Dr. Houman was recommended to my husband when he began having the prostate problems that can devastate older men. Dr. Houman solved his urinary difficulties, and I'm convinced, kept him from the fate of a constant catheter.
Naturally, I jumped at the chance to be his patient, and have been, for the first time in my life, free for several months of any infections.

Never had as Great a Doctor as Dr. Houman! Not only was he Perfect at his Craft, also he's an unpretentious and easy-going Doctor who always made me feel comfortable! After multiple failed attempts of finding an Urologist I could trust in Santa Clarita - closer to home - I began looking elsewhere. Dr. Houman had exceptional reviews online and I decided to switch Urologists and brave the traffic over to Cedars for his care.
Dr. Houman is sincere and intentional with the care of his patients e.g. follow up phone calls, texts, emails etc. He is collaborative in his approach - educating you along the way - and provides clarity with his goals for your health. Getting the team to submit the prior authorization request for XIAFLEX was frustrating and the communication was not great. Even now, I see in the system with my provider (UHC), that the prescription is on Hold, and that additional information is needed from the prescriber, and I have not been contacted by Tower Urology. I understand insurance is cumbersome and difficult, but regular and proactive communication with the patient would result in me giving a score of 10.

Dr. Houman and Mr. Katz are wonderful care givers. Both made efforts to address issues and kept in touch when needed. I did have issues with the scheduler, Joanna Cativo. For years I gave my dates in advance. Then, in a reply to an email I sent on March 16, 2026 she said concerning my scheduling request that, "... it takes too much time, and I have 3 doctors I take care off. You need to schedule them as you check out and call Maria Dr Houman’s assistant for that appointment."
The appointment she's referring to is my three month checkup with Dr Houman which I coordinate with an appointment David Katz on the same day.
I don't know all the responsibilities Ms. Cativo has, but I image scheduling clients is one of them since clients keep your business going.
In an email dated September 23, 2024 she basically said I didn't mention certain dates for scheduling, and even after I quoted from an email I sent regarding the dates in question she continued to deny it. The email discussion is probably still on your servers if you care to pursue.
Other one on one discussions took place which are not documented. Nevertheless, this has given me pause as to continuing with Tower Urology.

My only probably was with parking. I’ve never been to Cedars before. I parked in the lot closest to the building. I couldn’t find my car, and walked around for 20 minutes, never saw a number to call if I was lost. Finally, a stranger came up to me and said he would help me. Given that my diagnosis was kidney stones, if he hadn’t approached me, it would have turned into a crisis. I am 76, and couldn’t have walked any more. I should have called Tower Urology, but didn’t think to do so.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for much of the supporting staff. The front desk personnel handling paperwork, as well as the nurses and technicians who perform blood draws, ultrasounds, and other procedures, come across as distant and extremely unfriendly. They often seem disinterested, as if they’d rather not be there, which makes patients feel uneasy and nervous. It’s a real shame, because this consistently negative experience with the staff detracts from what would otherwise be a top-tier medical practice.
Dr. Houman deserves the highest praise, but the office as a whole could learn a great deal from his example of warmth and professionalism.

My only complaint is trying to communicate with the Tower office personnel. I usually make an appointment so I can speak to the different people I interact with in your office. And I have one important question, I was told you check PSA lab tests in your office, I took a test 11,5,25 why did it take 6 weeks for my doctor to call me and tell me he was a little concerned about my results and order a PET scan?
I hope me being honest does not effect my relationship with Tower and especially Dr Houman.

My only issue is when getting renewal prescriptions, the do not respond to the pharmacy and I must make a separate call. This causes a several day delay in getting prescriptions. I usually get a 90 day supply, this past renewal they sent in only a 30 day supply with 7 refills. This causes more calls and trips to the pharmacy.

I’m pleased with all patient care. I’m disappointed that your records system is not integrated with EPIC used by Cedars-Sinai. I live in both New York and California. My NYU Langone urologist uses EPIC. It would be extremely helpful if visit summaries and test results could be seen by both doctors, and all my other doctors, on a real time basis. Since Tower Urology seems to be closely affiliated with Cedars-Sinai and Dr Houman was involved with my surgery at Cedars-Sinai in 2021, I expected compatibility.

Dr. Justin Houman have pescribed me to take Tadalafil 5mg. 4 tablets all at once every other day for a while to correct my erection.
I asked Dr. Houman a few times when I was at his clinic and one phone call to him to make sure that I understood on what he told me is correct.
But, when I consulted 2 pharmacists at CVS Pharmacy, they told me that is not recommended to take 4 tablets at the same time on the same day on every other day as is not normal to do it as my blood pressure can go down significantly.
Also, Dr. Houman administrative assistant Maria Del Real is quite rude to me when I talked to her on the phone as if I’m not a patient that gives business to Tower Urology.

The procedure with injections has left my penis uneven, lumpy and shrunken. I’m unable to get an erection and if I reach one my penis head and upper shaft are in-discomfort. I have one more set of injections to complete, schedule this month. This whole situation has left me without words as it has affected my sexual performance 100% I’m wish I had just left the penis be curved then endure these shots leaving it painfully and unsightly leaving me emotional drained and exhausted causing on sight depression. I’m to be the in the prime of my life and I’ve ended it already. My entire penis has decrease in circumference and diameter by a half an inch and two inches in length. This treatment is not finishing out as I was made to believe and no one has any answers to the concerns I’ve expressed for making amends .

I''d like to say that Dr. Houman has treated me great, and he is very gracious and friendly, but I still haven;'t gotten the results of my last PSA and it's been 6 weeks.
The primary reason I am having PSA tests every 3 months is because of a couple of high test results and a lesion observed on MRI (moderately low risk).
Anyway, I still haven't gotten my results from the last test, and I'm not sure if I got them for the previous 3 months.
I also have to say something about the billing dept. First it seems like I had to pay for a lot of tests each time I come in, and most of the tests seem not relevant , yet I get very high bills for them. Consequently, it costs me a lot more than I would expect to get my PSA tested every 3 months. Additionally, the billing office is so aggressive and condescending in their treatment of me. I had, what I thought was good medical coverage, but it's costing me a lot out of pocket, and the treatment I receive from the collectors is quite frankly - Rude. If I run a balance of $200, I'm treat like I'm a deadbeat, even though I'm not.
It if wasn't for Dr. Houman's bedside manner and David Katz' kindness, I would not want to be a patient here.

Under strain and having a difficult time getting in to see a top-notch urologist, we called (by an MD recommendation) Dr. Houman's office at Tower Urology, Cedars-Sinai Medical Center (Los Angeles). We were flying back from San Franciso and they were booked solid, but the staff understood the urgency and gave us the first cancellation later that afternoon.
Dr. Houman saw me immediately; quickly understood the issue at hand, personally swung into action, and ten minutes later had the situation under complete control.
He wrote a prescription, gave me exact instructions what to do and what to look for over the next few days, and scheduled a follow-up appointment a few days later.
A week later, the issue is in the rear view mirror and I have urologist for life.
Dr. Houman is down to earth, very personal, and clearly cheering you on for success. His entire staff follow his lead - a terrific group of healthcare professionals.

Receptionist is unprofessional. I called to schedule an appointment and was forwarded to another receptionist that went straight to voicemail saying she is out of town. I called back and explained that she forwarded me to someone out of town and she became irritated and said know what I?m doing?. No explanation or help. I don?t know why she became offended or why an attitude was needed. I was simply trying to get a hold of someone to make an appointment. I?m sure the doctor is great, but the receptionist was rude and immature.

This is truly a Doctor who takes his time to get to know you and your issues and really cares, I really felt genuine care from the time he took talking to me and getting to know all of my problems. I have previously asked Dr. Houman on Yelp if he will agree to perform a bilateral epididymectomy on me in addition to a (radical scrotal) vasectomy for sterilization purposes and he said Yes. However, I was wondering just how much he charges for a bilateral epididymectomy without insurance. After all, he does not accept Kaiser Permanente health insurance, right? So, just how much would this surgery cost out of pocket?

I have been suffering from Testicular pain for the past 3.2 years, and it has been a challenging journey. If I do certain activities like long walks, lifting weights and sex triggers or worsen my testicular pain. The pain was intense enough to significantly impact my daily activities. Pain forces me to rest for 1 to 2 days and applying the Ice packs frequently.
I finally met Dr. Justin Houman, who has truly been my life saver. I recently underwent Microsurgical Spermatic Cord Denervation and Varicocelectomies Surgery with Dr. Justice Houman and I noticed a significant reduction in my chronic testicular pain, which has greatly improved my quality of life. I have gradually resumed activities like long walks, lifting weights, sexual activity and I am experiencing only very minimal testicular pain, which doesn?t affect my daily activities.
