One thing: since Urology has to do with a patient's private parts, most of the patients, assuming they are sentient, are self-conscious. When your place is busy the waiting room is "cheek by jowl". Rubbing elbows is fine in a bar, but not so much with folks at the Urologist. This is not a reflection on your fine medical care.

The office was supposed to call me and tell me the results of my psa test. They did not do so. I assume if there was a problem they would let me know. Also, I asked Dr.Ng to forward the results of my kidney scan (the first one they have done?) to my nephrologist Dr. Karimi at Tower Nephrology. When I spoke to her recently, she said she did not get the kidney scan from Tower Urology. I really like Dr.Ng, but you could improve your post visit follow up.

I knew Dr Ng when he was Chief of Staff and I was Director of OLAR at Cedars. We worked on activities to successfully achieve JCAHO during his tenure. So, when my PMD Dr Simons referred me to him for my left kidney tumor, I was very happy. He is wonderful and he did a great job at what he does- surgery- and I expect that he is also excellent at dealing with Urology issues as well. I am an RN and my clinical background was Neonatal ICU, therefore, my knowledge re: living with a single kidney was very little/very old info from nursing school. I did read about it but did not know, for example, that it would take about 6 months for my single remaining kidney to "ramp up" to take over for the kidney that had to be removed due to the tumor. I did ask for more information and his office sent me a link to many kidney information sites. It was overwhelming. I did find the AI there very helpful and it also helped me decipher my tumor pathology report as well. That info made me call Dr Ng to accelerate my Imaging Schedule and make appt with Oncologist- Dr Scher-recommended by Dr Ng. I love Dr Scher as well. I needed specific info about single kidney & path findings. Otherwise GREAT!

I do have a suggestion for improvement: Because of COVID concerns, after I check in, I wait on Third Street, outside the Tower Urology main entrance, until I am called to enter the exam area. And I move around a bit to avoid the traffic of people entering and leaving the office. At my last visit, when a receptionist opened the front door, stepped halfway out, and called my name, I didn’t hear her right away. This was due to car traffic noise and my slightly age-diminished hearing. She had to repeat my name a couple of times. As a result, she seemed visibly irritated and frustrated with me. I did not appreciate that reaction.
The simple solution is to call or text me when it is time for me to enter the exam area. They have done this occasionally in the past.

I had an initial appointment and the office is well organized and staff were respectful and attentive. Doctor Ng was excellent and took his time to answer my questions. Weeks later I had a following appointment which was the prostrate biopsy. Procedure was on time and it was completed without any problem. Thanks to the Dr Ng and the tech. The only instruction I received verbally from the desk was somebody was going to call me in about one week. There was no instruction of post op biopsy. It’s been 15 days, I haven’t received a call from the office. Overall my experience was excellent.

Tower Urology is too small and outdated for the volume of patients. The rooms are old and dirty looking. The hallways are too narrow. Cedars needs to expand. If you are admitted to the hospital from emergency it takes 16-24 hours to get a room, if you are lucky-my personal experience!

I've been a patient of Dr.Ng for several years. My condition is pretty stable so the appointments are pretty "routine" by now. It's a busy place and I could see how a new patient might feel a little rushed sometimes. More by the staff than the Dr. He spends enough time with me to explain what's going on and what to expect or anticipate for the future. Overall I've been pleased with the care I get at Tower Urology. One suggestion /question is why are you not part of Cedars CS Link program? I always have to call to get lab work results, whereas if part of CS link it would be automatic. Worst part of the visit is that I live in Culver City and it's not always an easy drive. Not your problem but mine. Thanks.

I am a first-time patient, referred via Dr. Jay Schapira. I felt the front desk was a bit sterile, harried, short, and not all that welcoming. It's a busy office, I could see, and so perhaps there was no time to make a new patient feel welcomed.
Dr. Ng had a good manner, seemed interested, and wanted to read over the notes from MRI, Ultrasound, and CatScan. He noted he would contact me by the end of the week to go over more details. That was 2 weeks ago, and I have not heard from him, nor the office, until tonight with this survey.
